We can reassure guests that we are being flexible with all booking deposits for any cancellations affected by COVID.

Our Covid-19 guidelines in order to ensure the safety and well-being of our guests and team members.

These guidelines will remain in place until at least 21st June 2021, we expect though that some aspects will continue for most of 2021.

In welcoming you back to Thorney How, many things will stay the same

You will still find a friendly welcome, clean and fresh rooms, good home cooked food and local drinks available from our bar.

Most local services, shops, restaurants and bars are fully open.

The Lake District hills, valleys and lakes are there for you to explore.

We have made some changes

Like all business we’ve had to make some changes. We want to ensure that you feel safe during your stay and that are own staff can be safeguarded against any risks. We will be asking you to adhere to the current UK Government guidelines around social distancing, taking care of your own personal safty and adhering to the guidelines regarding meeting people outside the household and the relevant Tier restrictions that may apply to you.

We have reduced our guest numbers at any one time to ensure that a safe physical distance can be maintained.

You are required to wear masks when you are inside the building. You will also see staff wearing masks especially when they need to come into closer contact with you.

In order to assist with the prevention of the spreading of COVID-19, the following has been implemented

Checking In

You will receive an online digital check in from us prior to arrival to minise contact during check in. Please note that we will not be accepting cash payments and have contactless payment systems available.

We will also need to keep a record of your full contact details and arrival/departure time to comply with NHS Track and Trace regulations.

Greetings & Interaction - in place of a hand shake, a polite nod and our genuine smiles will be your warm welcome to Thorney How, and whilst trying to ensure that you have the best experience, we will be adhering to social distancing guidelines during your time with us.

After check in - you will be able to communicate with us easily via our booking messaging systems.

Dining and drinks

Dining Room & Bar Service - adhering to government guidelines we have decided to implement full table service in both food and beverage departments. Drinks can also be delivered to your room.

Indoor dining - reservations are essential, if our indoor tables are available and not booked, indoor drinking will be possible. Customers wishing to drink/dine indoors will be greeted by a member of staff at the allocated time and shown to your table.

Breakfast - We will continue to stagger our breakfast times to allow guests to enjoy their breakfasts and to enable more social distancing. We will ask our guests to sit at the same table each day, with each table having its own condiments and jams, milk and butter.

There will be no access to self-catering facilities in accordance with government guidance.

For outdoor service, please find a free bench take a seat and one of our staff will be with you as soon as possible.

Cleanliness has always been a top priority at Thorney How

Personal Protective Equipment – our staff have been equipped with PPE to perform certain tasks.

Sanitising – A automatic hand sanitising unit is available in the porch, PLEASE sanitise your hands frequently and wash hands every two hours (or as often as required).

Cleaning - enhanced and systematic cleaning regimes covering all areas, bar, dining areas and public areas have been implemented and all areas undergo regular cleaning.

Rooms - our cleaning of guest rooms has been further enhanced and in addition to this we will not be entering you room during your stay unless for essential maintenance. Anything extra you require during your stay will be left outside the room to minimise contact. You may choose to bring your own pillows and bed linen etc. if you prefer. Please let us know in advance if this is the case.

Contact - in order to help reduce contact we are encouraging contactless payment and our PDQ machine is sanitised before and after every use.

Social Distancing

Please observe social distancing when moving around the building. You will need to make allowances to other guests as passageways and staircases will necessailty be two way. We will ask guests to restrict their movement within the building as much as possible and to try to keep their group together at all times.

We have adjusted dining times as well as our seating capacity in order to adhere as best as possible to social distancing in our dining room . Please note that due to the nature of the operation, there may be occasions where you are within 2m of a team member or guest and we ask you to please assist us in this regard, using your discretion to ensure everyone stays safe.

In accordance with government guidelines we are keeping communal spaces such as the self-catering kitchen, drying room, bike shed and our snug closed for the time being.

Precuations prior to arrival and during your stay

Please do not come to Thorney How if you are displaying any symptoms or have recently been in contact with someone with Covid 19. When you check-in, we will confirm with you that neither you nor other guests have been in contact with any potential COVID-19 cases and therefore should be self-isolating at home. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone showing signs of the virus.

If you suddenly become ill during your stay at Thorney How please stay in your room, inform staff via our bookng messaging systems or telephone and the appropriate action will be taken.
