3 x General Assistants required
2 x Full time, live-in accommodation available for a couple or two friends
Please be aware that if you are just applying for yourself and require accommodation, you must be willing to share with one other same sex employee. We would expect that those sharing accommodation agree to be non smokers.
One position is also available without accommodation for a locally based individual, this may be full or part time.

Situated in the heart of the English Lake District World Heritage Site in a unique and idyllic location near to the village of Grasmere. We are a well-established and successful, family-run guest accommodation business in a very popular tourist destination. Open daily throughout the year, offering a mix of B&B style and bunkhouse accommodation for over 40 guests. With an evening meal menu also available to non-residents and quality breakfasts all prepared and cooked on the premises using the best fresh produce. Thorney How is developing a kitchen garden and we want to increase the use of our produce in the menu. You will also find a fully licensed bar.
Situated off the beaten track directly on the Coast to Coast pathway and under Helm Crag in Grasmere. Thorney How is a listed building sitting in 2.25 acres of grounds, so you may even find yourself working in the garden. Must like cats, and of course people, we also have hens, ducks and sheep! It is useful to have an interest in the outdoors and to have a good sense of humour.

For full details please read the job description. However, in a busy hard-working environment you may find yourself undertaking a wide variety of tasks such as:
- Front of house reception to welcome and check in guests.
- Preparing rooms and maintaining excellent cleanliness standards throughout the Hostel.
- Supporting the kitchen or acting as a kitchen chef if that’s your skill base or you’re happy to learn, serving meals and serving drinks from the bar.
- Completing admin to support the running of the business.
- Maintaining food production growing in the kitchen garden and polytunnel.
- Undertaking some general maintenance outdoors and helping with the animals.
- Always delivering excellent customer service.
We are now looking to recruit three new members of staff to join our team with seasonal positions available.
Energetic and enthusiastic live-in or live-out staff with previous relevant experience is desirable. You should have some experience of working in Hospitality or similar customer care environment.
You must be well presented with the highest professional standards, have common sense, plenty of initiative and attention to detail, sharing our passion and commitment to deliver the very best customer service as well the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Applicants must be legally able to work in the UK with NI numbers and bank accounts and speak English fluently. Full clean driving licence recognised in the UK is preferable but not essential.
This is a great opportunity to live and work in a beautiful part of the country. Self-contained accommodation is available for two sharing. Rates of pay, depending on experience starting typically at £9.00 per hour with additional benefits accruing from the accommodation and access to all utilities provided
If you add Kitchen Chef to the mix, salary is negotiable and depending on age / experience.
Payment will be monthly to your bank account. Full time hours will be 40 hours per week, over 5 days including some split shifts with statutory holiday entitlement. Weekend working will be the norm.
