After waiting four weeks at least (who’s counting?) we now have merchant account number so that we can receive payments via credit / debit card – yahay!
But the parcel that arrived only contained a manual card imprinting machine! Oh and lots of stickers to say that we can now take card payments from Visa, Mastercard etc.
But no hand terminal…..!!
Where is it? Does anyone know?
Oh yes, and we do have our FREE Team 2012 POS Kit – thanks Streamline
Well we’re certainly in the thick of it now. There are so many Project Thorney things going on at once it’s sometimes hard to think about them all.
We’ve had our site survey, arboricultural report and initial landscape designs done.
We have some new sign designs prepared and our new website is nearly ready.
Our architect is busily measuring up spaces to transfer data into a 3D model.
Our new credit card system is about to arrive. Yay.
The fire alarm and security lighting has all been tested.
The builder will be back to look at our drain system and a new carpet will arrive later this week.
Plus we passed our Cumbria Quality inspection….!
Meanwhile we’ve hoovered, cleaned, cooked breakfasts, changed beds, mowed the lawns and answered phone calls and e-mails.
Thank you to everyone who has been here so far and made it all worthwhile.
Well we could not have asked for better weather to lead us into the Easter holiday period and our first few opening weekends.
With a flurry of bookings we were full with guests enjoying the sunshine and getting out into the Lake District mountains.
We’ve had visitors from all over the globe. A favoured website for international travellers appears to be hostelworld.com. With over 30 bookings through them since we registered with them a couple of weeks ago their stats analysis tell us that we’ve had visitors from:
England, France, Spain, Switzerland , India, Northern Ireland , Scotland, Hong Kong, Colombia, South Korea, Russia, Poland, Japan, USA, Australia.
We’ve also received reviews that tell us that:
We have a great location, great staff, good atmosphere, and that the hostel is very comfortable.
The rooms were basic but clean and the staff were very friendly and knowledgable about walks in the surrounding area.
The Breakfast was great value at £5, and a great start for a long walk.
The hostel is ideally placed if you want to be a bit out of the way and able to go directly out into the surrounding countryside.
Guests commented that they really enjoyed their stay and would definately recommend Thorney How to others.
Whilst we are very happy with these reviews we must also acknowledge that there is an inadequate number of showers. We are aware of this and it is at the top of our lists for improvements. We are working on a solution currently.
